About Us
Our Beginnings:
Founded by Antony and Christopher in 2020, Fired Up Kilns was established to offer an affordable, accessible and durable selection of pottery kilns, supplies, and equipment. Our goal is to serve ceramicists and potters regardless of where they live, work and play.
Growth and Expansion:
By May 2024, we had outgrown our original factory in Yarraville and relocated to a larger facility in Heidelberg West, Melbourne. This move enabled us to launch a factory-direct retail space, expand our firing services, and purchase in bulk from our suppliers, helping us keep prices affordable for our customers.
Our Product Philosophy:
We source products from around the world with a focus on innovation, affordability, functionality, and durability. Every item we offer is carefully selected to meet these standards, ensuring strong performance, long term durability and excellent value.
Strengthening Our Supply Chain:
In April 2026, we expanded to create 'The Fired Up Kilns Group' to further strengthen our manufacturing capabilities and secure our supply chains. This ensures control over quality and innovation, while continuing to deliver reliable products and responsive customer service.
Our Group Today:
The Fired Up Kilns Group currently includes five entities operating across Oceania and Africa. With these manufacturing capabilities, we create our own ranges of kilns, clays, moulds, bisque ware, glazes, underglazes and raw materials.

Our Operations Team:
- Antony (Operations Mgr) - an enthusiastic potter and kiln builder his entire life. Also, a Veterinarian for small animals.
- Jake (Kiln Technician)– a keen figurative sculptor and element winding extraordinaire. Also, keeps fit with Muay Thai kick boxing.
- Nicky – a wheel throwing and hand building ceramic artist. Also, a research academic with a PhD in Applied Cognitive Psychology.
- Matthew – a developing functional potter with an interest in glaze chemistry. Also, an Environmental Engineer and advisor in energy efficiency.
- Reuben – a ceramic artist, instructor, studio tech and kiln builder. Also, studying a Doctor of Medicine at Melbourne Uni.
- Charlotte – a potter since childhood. Also, studying her Bachelor of Arts at Deakin University.
- Ang – a potter of functional homewares and owner of Preston Pottery. Also, a creative producer for international events & performances.
- Mason – a guru of all things glaze chemistry related. Also, a linguist who speaks multiple languages.
Our Support Team:
- Christopher (Business Mgr) – a long suffering partner of a potter. Also, a Registered Nurse in Palliative & Remote health.
- Maureen (Finance) – a past financial controller of large corporations, she keeps us on our toes. Also, keeps super fit by pole dancing.
- Denise (Marketing) – a powerhouse of creativity, design and common sense. Also, lives in the Tropical Far North Queensland city of Cairns.
