Responsible Business Policy

At Fired Up Kilns, we recognise that protecting our shared environment is an important responsibility. We are committed to operating our business(s) in a manner that minimises any negative impacts while providing high-quality products and services to our customers. We strive to continually improve our performance through responsible business practices, efficient use of resources, and ongoing evaluation of our operations.


Fired Up Kilns is committed to:


Compliance:

  • Complying with all applicable environmental laws, regulations and industry standards.
  • Regularly reviewing our practices to ensure continued compliance.
  • Ensure we meet our obligations under the EESS regulatory framework (Electrical Equipment Safety System).
  • Ensure we meet our obligations under the AICIS regulations (Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme).


Energy Efficiency:

  • Promoting the use of energy-efficient equipment and technologies.
  • Encouraging the selection of modern, energy-efficient kilns and equipment where appropriate.
  • Reducing energy consumption within our own operations wherever practical.
  • Reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and embracing clean and renewable options when able.


Waste Reduction:

  • Reducing waste through careful purchasing, efficient inventory management and responsible business practices.
  • Reusing, recycling & recovering packaging and other materials wherever possible.
  • Selecting compostable or bio-degradable options when available.
  • Encouraging customers to recycle packaging and dispose of products responsibly at the end of their useful life.


Responsible Products:

  • Focussing our supply on quality products designed for durability, reliability and long service life.
  • Working with reputable manufacturers, who share our commitment to product quality and responsible manufacturing practices.
  • Promoting repair and maintenance over unnecessary replacement where practical.


Sustainable Purchasing:

  • Considering environmental factors when selecting suppliers and products.
  • Using bulk importation when local sourcing not possible, to reduce the impact footprint of individual items.
  • Supporting suppliers who demonstrate responsible environmental practices.


Responsible Chemical Management:

  • Promoting the safe storage, handling and disposal of ceramic materials, glazes, refractory products and associated chemicals.
  • Providing guidance and product information to assist customers in using products safely and responsibly.

  

Reducing Our Environmental Footprint:

We aim to:

  • Build systems that minimise paper usage through digital documentation where practical.
  • Reduce unnecessary packaging through design improvements.
  • Reduce unnecessary freight through building a network of local distributors.
  • Recycle cardboard, paper, plastics, electronics and other materials whenever facilities are available.
  • Improve operational efficiency to reduce waste and emissions.


Ethical Sourcing and Modern Slavery:

Fired Up Kilns is committed to conducting business ethically and with integrity. We recognise the importance of respecting human rights and oppose all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, child labour and human trafficking.
